Fauci Runner-Up for Good Human of the Week
Please Respond Respectfully: It's time to Build Bridges
When I first got on Substack, I subscribed to Mary Trump’s Newsletter, “The Good in Us.” She is a psychologist, like me, and courageous to speak out about the dangers of Trump. I think she is smart and decent.
I just got this post from her,
Rep. Jamie Raskin Is Our Good Human of the Week And it wasn't even close
I know Jamie, not very well, friends of friends, and knew his father, Marcus Raskin, a founder of the Institute for Policy Studies in DC, a progressive think tank. I am in the progressive activist community in DC.
Jamie is a good guy, smart and has integrity. I went to several conferences during Trump years with psychologists and psychiatrists on “Duty to Warn.” Jamie spoke at one.
This post is not about Jamie. It’s about Fauci and propaganda.
What surprised me is that Fauci is the runner-up. This is a signal of how far we have to go, how effective the hermetically sealed propaganda machine is and how even decent, intelligent people are completely unaware of knowable, irrefutable facts, as are some Supreme Court Justices.
“The most violent element in society is ignorance.” Emma Goldman
I looked at the comments to see whether anyone challenged Fauci as a good human.
I thought you all should know about this. I think it would be good if people could write comments that are as respectful in tone as you can possibly be and informative- please don’t play into their dehumanization and stereotypes, pitting us against each other I wrote about in Let’s You and Him Fight. Challenge the false assumption that it’s only the Republicans who are trying to discredit him. And let’s even try to build a bridge to Mary Trump.
Let’s use this as an opportunity to try to do some good or at least plant some seeds of doubt. If we can reach her, and her subscribers that would be good, or at least open the door for dialogue and education and for her subscribers to respond.
Here is excerpt on Fauci.
Runner-Up
Dr. Anthony Fauci, who still does his job in the face of the bizarre and unreasonable opposition and attacks from the Right, came in second.
“I loved seeing Fauci giving Rand Paul a dose of his own bullshit this past week. Then the cherry on top of the bullshit was when Fauci called him a ‘moron’ on a hot mic.”
“He still doesn’t waver, even with all the negativity he is bombarded with!”
“He stands with the truth despite those of the Republican Party who are attempting to discredit his knowledge and experience. This as he devotes himself in an attempt to stop the horrific number of deaths caused by COVID-19.”
Let’s look at every challenge as an opportunity to do some good and consider how we can best appeal to Mary Trump.
I believe that Dr. Fauci should be held criminally responsible for the death of hundreds and thousands of people. His directives to doctors and hospitals for Covid patients were a death sentence in most cases. Thus we became the country with the largest number of deaths in the World. He didn't allow early treatment with known remedies and even persecuted doctors that offered it to their patients.
I just submitted this comment on Mary Trump's substack.
I disagree that Fauci is a good human. What disqualifies him, in my opinion, is his opposition to early medical treatment which could have saved so many lives. We need as many treatments as possible to reduce the public health threat of Covid-19 which doesn't seem to be controlled by vaccines alone. Peter McCullough has been publicizing effective medical treatments which have been censored by Fauci. His approach to public health is to maintain strict control over what studies can be performed, and what drugs can be authorized. They are always drugs under pharmaceutical patents--never off label drugs that have been shown to have promise. He will publish or allow to be published studies that discredit Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine--when both drugs have been used successfully to control infection in India and Africa. Both countries have lower rates of vaccination than U.S.--but much lower rates of infection. What does it cost to authorize treatment? Ivermectin is quite safe. There are a lot of randomized controlled studies and observational studies indicating its efficacy. It has just as much research behind it as Mulnupiravir--but is very inexpensive. Possibly this is why Fauci won't allow it to be given emergency use authorization. How can he be a good human being when his single minded pursuit of profit and control of medical research have caused so many deaths?
