I grew up in a scientific family, my father a professor of geochronology & my mother a clinical psychologist. At an early age I learned, "Question Authority!" As a young adult, I studied medicine & psychology in college, along with many other subjects. I married a clinical psychologist who became a professor at a local community college & was later murdered by a student who thought my husband was demonizing his mind! The student was an immigrant from a different culture!
It is important to understand, like this student thought, that the mind can be easily manipulated by psyops experts to get what they want when they know their victims DO NOT QUESTION AUTHORITY! In my husband's case, he was only introducing varieties in cultural psychology!

I'm wondering if there's perhaps a category for those who manipulate the public by ignoring the nuances in stances that you describe so well. These are the ones who divide the public into a couple of categories (anti vax conspiracy theorists vs "we are the science") so as to then attempt to dismiss, ridicule, and demonize.
